Aussie Heat, World Police and Fire Games

From the 8th-13th August 2017 Los Angeles hosted the bi-annual World Police and Fire Games. These games are second in size only to the Olympics, with approximately 8000 people from around the world competing in a number of events. Participants are required to be employees of a Police, Fire, Customs, or Prison department in order to be eligible to compete.

The Los Angeles games presented the opportunity for Legear to support the Aussie Heat, which is an Australian ice hockey team comprised purely of first responders from around Australia, with approximately 80 players registered with the team in various capacities; from a variety of organisations. Legear was proud to give back to the people that devote their lives to looking after our communities by contributing uniform and clothing items to the team of 15 players that were selected to attend the games. With these games being entirely self-funded, the items were well received by members that were facing the prospect of having to purchase these items individually and were proudly worn both on and off the ice. This year saw the Team having their first win at the international level, beating the United States Homeland Security team before being eliminated in the quarter final by the California Highway Patrol team.

Legear would like to extend our support and best wishes to the team as they move into a best of three series against the Australian Defence Force team, to be played prior to each of the USA vs Canada games being held in Australia later this year.
