They say necessity is the mother of invention, and nothing supports this theory more than the creation of the QuiqLite pocket light. It was a highly vulnerable situation that led Brian Quittner, a ten-year veteran of the Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol, to create the QuiqLite pocket light. When Brian found himself literally in the dark after his flashlight (awkwardly tucked under his arm as he wrote a citation) slipped and smashed to the ground, he knew that a practical and reliable light source was needed. Back at the station, Brian sketched a prototype for a lightweight, hands-free device that could fit in a uniform shirt pocket. As his invention began to take shape, Brian was careful to incorporate features that enhanced his colleague's ability to do their job, such as an adjustable light arm and battery saving elements. More importantly, he knew it was essential that his apparatus not affect night vision. And thus, QuiqLite, Inc. was born. What started as a safe, alternative light source for his fellow officers, soon blossomed into a business. Before long, he and wife Rachel were filling orders from their living room and shipping QuiqLite all over the world. Today QuiqLite is popular with consumers in a variety of fields. QuiqLite has found its way into the pockets of thousands of law enforcement, public safety, aviation, government, industrial and recreation personnel, as well as outdoorsmen, technicians, and students.

QuiqLite - an excellent piece of kit May 6, 2010

As you never know where you might be talking to someone and having to take notes, I've found the QuiqLite to be an invaluable piece of equipment. Saves you having to stuff around trying to angle a torch under your arm, or standing near your vehicle to use the headlights and losing your night vision, not to mention if you have to drop your gear to get hands on without warning, you don't have to worry about dropping your torch and possibly breaking it. I would thouroughly recommend QuiqLite to anyone in law enforcement, and anyone who would just find a bit of extra light handy in a dark place.
