The front panel measures 5" W x 5 1/2" L. The back panel measures 12 1/2" W x 9" L.

Everything, and I mean everything, is here for the officer. This jacket has an outer shell with a dual layer. It is resistant to moisture penetration. Mic loops on both sides, a pull-out badge tab, pull-out ID panel, removable and stowable hood, and Back-Up Belt system pockets. The back of the outer shell has a pull-out ID panel and a large rear slash pocket. The interior jacket is a wind resistant fleece. This also has mic loops on both shoulders, hand warmer pockets, 2 chest pockets on the inside, and side zippers to accommodate a duty belt holster. The inner jacket is attached to the outer shell by button-straps inside the sleeves and at the back. The 3 in 1 Jackets also comes with a free reflective vest. The reflective vest can easily be stored in the rear slash pocket of the outer shell. It can be folded up and kept in its own pocket, built into the inside of the vest. The only thing I would change is the sleeve connection, between outer and inner jackets. The fleece jacket pulls through the outer sleeves due to the only attachment being the button-strap. I think it's an excellent product.

The testing environment couldn't have been better, a rainy autumn in Alaska. Temperatures averaged between 45 degree highs and 20 degree lows. My initial observation was that the jacket seemed to be quite heavy. I began by unpacking the jacket. All 5.11 Tactical jackets come with an ANSI/ISFA reflective vest, that stows in a rear stash pocket of the vest; a valuable tool for any patrol officer. The jacket is actually two jackets that can be combined to form a multi-layered parka. The jacket is comprised of an outer layer made of abrasion resistant stretch woven nylon, a middle layer that is a waterproof/breathable membrane, and an inner layer of micro fleece that insulates and wicks moisture away from your body. The outer jacket is designed to prevent the penetration of moisture from the outside while allowing moisture vapor from the inside to escape. This feature along with the underarm side vent zippers kept me dry and that in turn kept me warm while engaged in various forms of physical activity. The outer jacket included a stow-able/removable hood that was functional. There were additional features to this jacket that separates it from other jackets in its class. There are mic loops on each shoulder, a pull out badge holder, pull out identification panels on the front and back, a large rear stash pocket, and a feature that 5.11 Tactical refers to as their BBS, or Back up Belt System. The BBS consists of two large pockets that allowed me to carry extra magazines, handcuffs, a second flashlight, and other equipment. The inner jacket is made of a wind resistant fleece. Again there are two mic loops on the shoulders, and two pockets on the inside and the outside. The inner jacket is designed with a patrol officer's duty belt in mind, as there are two side zippers to accommodate the officer's duty holster. There are also wear resistant reinforcements on the elbows, shoulders, and inside the waist for durability. I found that the jacket fit well. All of the features that I have mentioned combined to make for a very functional, warm, and comfortable jacket. In addition to wearing well, the construction methods and the fabric that the jacket is made of faired very well after I machine washed and dried washed the jacket several times. There was no fading or pilling of any of the material. I believe that 5.11 Tactical's 3-In-1 Parka would be a very effective means of keeping an officer warm in cold, wet conditions.
